ABA Glossary

What is a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst)?

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is a graduate-level clinician certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) to design and supervise ABA therapy programs.

A BCBA is the clinical lead on an ABA case. They assess the client, write and update the treatment plan, set measurable goals, and supervise the technicians who deliver therapy day to day.

Earning the credential requires a master's degree in a relevant field, supervised fieldwork, and passing the BACB certification exam, along with ongoing continuing education to maintain it.

Much of a BCBA's work is reviewing session data and translating it into clinical decisions, which is why the tools they use to visualize progress and manage caseloads matter so much.
